The Centre Leader, Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards (CE-sPESS) of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Gloria Chukwudebe has disclosed that, from now on, the Learning Management System (LMS) would be deployed for more trainings, to enable greater participation from prospective participants, especially those residing outside the country. This will be combined with the physical involvement of students.

The Centre Leader expressed delight and satisfaction over the smooth planning session that heralded the recently concluded four-day Training Workshop on both Tracks A and B courses.

According to her, this edition marked the second time the Centre would organise a workshop using the LMS, as directed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the World Bank.

The training, which had a record of about 720 participants from various parts of Nigeria and foreign countries, such as the United States of America (U.S.A), commenced and ended with Quiz sessions as usual.

Participants also applauded the organisers, describing the training as very resourceful and educational, while urging management to organise such a mode of training regularly.

Modules drawn from the three programme areas, Procurement Management (PRM), Environmental Standards (EVS), and Social Standards (SSD), were taught during the training.

PRM

Module 3 – Procurement Management for Goods.

Module 4 – Procurement Management for Works.

EVS

Cohorts 1 – Understanding Environmental & Social Assessment Process for World Bank, MFI and Projects in Nigeria.

SSD

Module 3 – Land Acquisition, Displacement & Resettlement.

Module 4 – Social Standards & Gender Mainstreaming.
